Jane Stephens Joins Pembroke Games as Contributing Illustrator

West Sussex illustrator will develop the recurring animal cast for a new family of calm puzzle games.

Pembroke Games has appointed Jane Stephens as contributing illustrator for its developing family of word and tile-based puzzle games. Stephens will create character artwork, reward illustrations and visual guidance for recurring animals across the studio’s titles.

The collaboration begins with an English Nature collection featuring familiar garden and woodland birds. The artwork is designed to function both as still illustration and within a restrained animation system, allowing characters to blink, turn or react without disrupting play.

“The interesting challenge is not to make the animals perform continuously. A robin that moves once, at exactly the right moment, can feel much more alive than one that never stops.”

Pembroke Games is developing calm, accessible games with clear interfaces, offline-first play and a shared illustrated identity.

Notes to editors

Initial titles include WordWheel, CrossWheel and TileMatch. The English Nature artwork will also appear in rewards and collection pages. Further commissioning information is available from Pembroke Games.
